This semiconductor optical amplifier is intended for use in 1300nm transmission systems including access, metro and regional applications where the SOA increases the signal power to overcome losses associated with for example, passive optical components. Its high output saturation power level provides a compact and low cost amplification approach. Two packaging variants are available; non-isolated, and with integral isolators.
